It Is Best To Accept A Bad Situation | Model IELTS Essay

Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Model Answer

There are varying opinions on whether individuals should accept an unfavourable situation in life or improve it. While there are some reasons to accept certain undesirable circumstances, overcoming them may be a preferable option. This essay will evaluate both sides of the view and discuss my opinion.

Those who believe that unfavourable conditions should be tolerated lack the courage to change their lives. For example, many people keep bad jobs out of fear of quitting. They hate their work yet cannot quit for fear of the future. They fear being unemployed for a long time and struggling to pay their bills until they find work again. As a result, they accept the status quo without changing it. Moreover, certain unfavourable events are beyond our control. For example, we cannot prevent a fatal illness or the untimely loss of a loved one. Dealing with a loss or unfavourable situation is sometimes preferable to dwelling on it.

On the other hand, certain conditions can be improved with sufficient effort. For instance, nobody should have to endure substandard employment when better opportunities exist on the market. Of course, this may require us to acquire new skills or qualifications, but it is well worth our time. Similarly, ill people can notice visible changes if they establish an exercise routine and a nutritious diet. Individuals in toxic relationships might reclaim their sanity by ending the relationship. Clearly, several problems can be changed with minimal effort. As a result, the argument that all adverse circumstances should be accepted without complaint falls flat.

In conclusion, while people may have reasonable justifications for living in undesirable conditions, it is beneficial to attempt to overcome terrible circumstances.
